Between the works that I have realized in cinema,  Return to Aztlan and Erendira Ikikunari, written and directed for Juan Mora Catlet. Aztlan was filmed in the middle of 1988 and made début in 1990.  The design, the achievement and effects with makeup for this full-lenght film in Mexico, meant to face a new challenge, the metaphorical interpretation, as near as possible to the life of the people Azteca.

The makeup to realize needed from a work type " body-paint " (corporal makeup), today much in vogue in the entire world, but in the city of méxico, it was not common and practically precedents did not exist. The direct reference there were the codices Nahuatl and Aubin to more than one big number of references about the people nahualt and of the so-called Aztec empire.

To distinguish the classes and gerarquias social, political and religosas, I decide to use as a code of identficación a similar palette of colors to found in the leases and other one, like interpretation in allegorical form as and in accordance with four points of the compass of the Aztec calendar and the cuatros worlds that the people Nahuatl knew.

Juan Mora decided that the makeup would have to be "original" very near to the ground as the mother " Coatlicue ", that the texture and the tone should to us recount to her, the solution to use a colored "mud", which, on having dried, was a dust. I Investigate and develop cosmetic needed.
